NMIS graduate training - for individuals

Develop in-demand skills and gain industry experience

Our graduate training scheme gives you the opportunity to undertake a fully paid placement of up to three months, through our Manufacturing Skills Academy.

You will work with one of our Scotland-based industrial partners, typically a small or medium-sized manufacturing firm, or within one of the NMIS technical teams. This will give you vital work experience, help you learn new skills, and kickstart a career within the world of advanced manufacturing.

Depending on where you are in Scotland you could be matched locally with one of our industrial partners based in areas such as Aberdeen, the Highlands, Dumfries, Fife,  Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow and surrounds, the Scottish Borders, or within an NMIS specialist technology centre.
We will match candidates to a role that focuses on your skillset, which could be anything from new product development to research, digital manufacturing, materials expertise, designing and prototyping electronic and embedded systems, and more.

Our last round of training saw graduates placed across some of the country’s most ambitious companies and organisations.

Roles included coordinating a steering group to lead the development of the new Power House R&D and education facility, building engineering and business cases for sustainable repair and remanufacturing of wind turbine parts, supporting ongoing NMIS research on carbon capture for remanufacturing, and manufacturing of space, aerospace and defence parts with one of the largest manufacturers of satellite technology in Scotland.

Some of these graduates went on to be offered permanent positions within their organisations following training.
We are looking for enthusiastic recent university and, or college graduates to help drive the future of manufacturing in Scotland. If you meet the conditions below then please complete the online form and provide us with your CV and a short video.

This will allow us to shortlist candidates and match you with NMIS projects or an industrial partner close to where you live. We will contact you if you qualify for the next stage of the application process - an online meetup.
