As Chief Operating Officer of NMIS, Jim is a driving force in advancing Scotland’s manufacturing capabilities. With over 35 years in heavy engineering, beginning as an apprentice at Doosan Babcock and later serving as Director of Asset Management, he has championed skills development, innovation, and industry growth nationwide.

From helping establish the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy to chairing DYW West, Jim’s career reflects a deep commitment to strengthening Scotland’s manufacturing future. A Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, and Fellow of West College Scotland, he holds an honours degree in Metallurgy and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde.
