COVID-19 has had an unprecedented impact on the manufacturing industry.  This webinar will explore the challenges that have gripped businesses over the last 12 months, also considering opportunities that have emerged from the crisis.

Delivered by our colleagues working on a related research project, learn about how businesses are dealing with supply issues and implementing social distancing measures, while also considering alternative futures including new markets, partners and business models.

Our experts will be on hand to signpost the innovation and supply chain support available for organisations like yours, and you can ask questions during a dedicated Q&A session.

Benoit is Anchoring Innovation Manager at National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).  He leads the Industrial Transformation Team, which seeks to develop a resilient and sustainable UK manufacturing supply base by offering different services: capability assessment, operational support, supply chain support and anchoring innovation. 

Benoit’s role involves developing manufacturing technology to engage with the UK’s manufacturing supply chains to understand the barriers to growth and to enable the adoption of new manufacturing technology.

Jill MacBryde is Professor of Innovation and Operations Management at the University of Strathclyde. She also co-leads the Innovation and Entrepreneurship theme across the University and is Director of Research within the Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management. Jill is recognised globally for improving the performance of organisations through streamlining processes and developing innovation capacity.

Having worked across several sectors, Jill’s focus has been on operations management in changing environments and her current research projects range from productivity in manufacturing to innovation and performance improvement in food and drink sector.

Tim is a research fellow at the Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management at the University of Strathclyde. In collaboration with the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, he works on innovation and supply chain management topics.  At the same time he is pursuing a PhD in innovation capability building of manufacturing supply chains.

Prior to joining the university, he held roles of operations manager and manufacturing engineer within various manufacturing industry sectors in Germany and Spain, working for companies like Bosch and BASF. He also previously worked in manufacturing consulting for small and medium sized enterprises.

With a background in Product Design Engineering, Remi worked for several years in the automotive sector with design responsibility for a range of commercial vehicle axles at a global T1 supplier. More recently as Head of Strategic Planning for NMIS, he is leading the process of aligning the NMIS technical programme with industrial sector challenges and focused on delivering impact into the UKs manufacturing industry.

Prior to his current role, he was appointed by the High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC) to be the AFRC’s Senior Technology Officer (STO) and was part of the HVMC core team that defined and implemented the first common work programme for the seven centres that make up the HVMC.
