Analysis of the innovation capability of the UK advanced manufacturing value chain
2019 | Product development & innovation support
Student: Tim Reckordt
Project aim
Identify how public innovation support can better help manufacturing SMEs realise innovative ideas and take them to the market.
Project background
Businesses seeking to realise innovative ideas are often faced with disrupted national UK supply chains. This particularly applies to small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) that don’t source internationally, resulting in many good ideas that are never taken to the market. On the other hand, large multinational OEMs receive a wealth of public innovation support.
This project will analyse how SMEs build their supply chains and fill in capability and capacity gaps. It will also look at how SMEs make decisions about exploiting their capabilities and capacities in new supply chains.
