Course Summary

This course explores the challenges and opportunities around meaningful employment for individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences within the manufacturing sector.  The course is broken down in three sections as follows:

  • Section one: Barriers to meaningful employment. 
  • Section two: Understanding autism and other neurodevelopmental differences. 
  • Section three: Reflecting on workplace cultures and environments. 

 

Throughout the course, the following learning outcomes will be covered: 

  • To understand current barriers around meaningful employment for people with a neurodevelopmental difference within the context of the manufacturing industry. 
  • To develop and reflect on our understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental differences in the context of the difference in thinking, communication and sensory experiences. 
  • To reflect on why a positive, informed and supportive workplace culture and environment matters and how this can be reflected in everyday working practices.
