Remi Zante

Interim Chief Technology Officer, National Manufacturing Institute Scotland

Remi’s background covers UK manufacturing, academic research and industrially focused applied research and has extensive experience of industrial-academic collaboration.

Remi provides the vision, leadership, and drive to ensure NMIS delivers transformational capabilities to Scottish Industry and is responsible for the development and delivery of NMIS’s innovation programmes, overseeing the coordination of collaborative research across the NMIS specialist centres and with wider UK innovation landscape.

After graduating in Product Design Engineering, Remi worked for several years in the automotive sector at a global T1 supplier. He then completed his PhD in mechatronics before joining the AFRC prior to its formal launch in 2009 where he led the development and delivery of a wide variety of industrially focused projects related to metal forming. More recently as Head of Strategic Planning for the AFRC, he led the process of ensuring the AFRCs technical developments target industrial sector challenges and focused on delivering impact into the UKs manufacturing industry. Prior to this, he was appointed by the High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC) to be the AFRCs Senior Technology Officer (STO) and was part of the HVMC core team that defined and implemented the first common work programme for the seven centres that make up the HVMC.
